Launch Party

Last night was the first Friday night in a longggggg time that I didn't work. I requested off because The Liberator Magazine had a launch party for its Philly Style Issue. I did the fashion shots, including the cover photo, for this issue. I was ecstatic. This is the first time my work has been published in print outside of a school publication. And the first time my work has been blown up and displayed. Afterwards we went to MINT in Old City for a friend's friend's birthday party. It wasn't anything amazing, but it felt good to just be out and relaxing for once instead of working.

I hope the restaurant isn't too crazy tonight. A lot of people are coming out for Valentine's Day tonight even though it's actually tomorrow. I'll be working a double shift tomorrow, but I'm excited to see what C got me. I'm not big on the whole capitalist, over-hyped, made-up, holiday, but I do like it when he's romantic.

Sade

I'm unfortunately watching 106th & Park. C has it on because Sade is performing and he is obsessed with her. The last time I watched this show, I must've been about 14. I'm surprised they even have Sade on the show. The songs that these kids listen to today are so sad. I know I'm only 23, and I sound like an old lady saying that. I guess I just developed an appreciation for real music at a young age.

Baby I Got Your Money

For some reason, the guy who lives below me LOVES to blast his music really loud. i love music, and im all about crankin up the tunes and rockin out every now and then. But he takes it to the extreme. I mean, i can feel the vibrations through the floor. Today he decided to play "I Got Your Money" by ODB, and I couldn't help but laugh. So i googled it, cuz i couldn't think of the title, and came upon some covers of it on YouTube. This was too funny not to share:

Listen to the entire thing. it gets funnier as it goes along, especially the talking at the end.

Then i watched the original, and it's so ridiculous, i had to post it too:

back

it's been 3 months. let's see, let's see, what's happened. i started a new job, and so far, so good. basically, i've just been working a lot. and trying to cherish what little time i have left before classes start. i spent Christmas in Boston of course and wish that i could've stayed longer. but it's ok i was there for the past few days, and i'm on my way back to Philly right now :/
i had to work new years eve and new years day, which sucked, but that's the industry.

my new years resolutions: take better care of myself (less junk food, more exercising), be more focused on my career goals (manage my time, seek more opportunities for growth), love and support C in every way possible.

right now im reading Lost in the City by Edward P. Jones, my favorite author! C got it for me for Christmas and i'm excited because i've read his other 2 books and i've been dying to read this one for a longggg time. im almost done with it.

Minister Faust

I try to make sure I'm always reading something. Right now it's "The Coyote Kings of the Space-Age Bachelor Pad" by Minister Faust. And...so far, it's so-so. But don't let that discourage you from reading it, I sill recommend it. I say "so-so" because even though the writing is great and the story line is interesting, the content is a little different for me. It's about 2 average guys, Hamza and Yehat, who live together and work dead-end jobs. I'm working my way through it (halfway there), but every now and then I get lost. See these guys are really into comics, Star Wars, and things of that sort, which i know NOTHING about. so the references completely throw me off. Plus there's a number of other characters. so many that it gets confusing figuring out who's who and why they're important. and then different characters take turns narrating, to make it even more confusing.
aside from all that, the author really has a unique and humorous style. not many books i've read made me laugh out loud. it gets 2.5/4 stars.
